Bengaluru has established itself as India’s premier destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), capturing a remarkable 36% of the GCC workforce in the first two quarters of FY25. A report from TeamLease Digital highlights the city’s dominance, driven by a thriving high-tech sector that constitutes 37% of the workforce. Professional services, particularly in banking, financial services, and consulting, contribute another 21%, while the manufacturing sector, especially automotive and electronics, accounts for 10%. This growth underscores Bengaluru’s vital role in the global tech and manufacturing landscape.

Hyderabad: A High-Tech Trailblazer

Hyderabad stands out as a significant player, hosting 14% of TeamLease Digital’s GCC clients and leading in the high-tech domain. The city’s GCC workforce is bolstered by a staggering 45% in high-tech roles. As a leader in digital transformation, Hyderabad is harnessing cutting-edge technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and blockchain, reinforcing its status as a center for innovation and tech advancement.

Mumbai and Pune: Emerging Giants

Mumbai and Pune collectively represent 31% of TeamLease Digital’s GCC partnerships, driven by a robust high-tech sector at 33% and the automotive industry at 22%. Pune is rapidly becoming a critical hub for automotive innovation, while Mumbai excels in capital markets and financial services, leveraging expertise in big data and predictive analytics.

Delhi-NCR: A Diverse Landscape

The Delhi-NCR region contributes 22% to the GCC workforce, with a notable focus on the software and high-tech sectors. Each accounts for 20% of the region’s GCC headcount, alongside a growing emphasis on the oil and gas industry, which brings in critical skills related to AWS, Azure, and IoT platforms.

Sector Growth: Innovation at the Forefront
Neeti Sharma, CEO of TeamLease Digital, highlights the transformative role of GCCs as engines of innovation and employment. She notes that sectors like healthcare, BFSI, and retail have witnessed impressive growth, with compound annual growth rates exceeding 30% from 2021 to 2023. Despite challenges in the broader IT landscape, the GCC software sector is projected to grow at a CAGR of 6.2% by 2027, with retail and e-commerce expected to see even more robust growth.
